Hello, I’m Karen. I joined the team at Escape on Third a little over 2 years ago now, however I have been a licensed cosmetologist for over 33 years. After learning how to do a manicure in cosmetology school I decided to specialize in nail services and after I did my first set of acrylic nails, I was hooked! Upon coming to the salon, I did my first pedicure and realized that feet aren’t so bad to work on, especially when you get to make them feel good and look pretty. When a guest comes to me and is hiding her hands because she feels they are “ugly,” there’s a transformation that happens as she looks at her hands after the nails are finished. It’s so gratifying and it’s why I do what I do.  My favorite service to offer my guests is a full set of nails to treat themselves! 

Over the years I have had lots of education, I guess you could say it’s a passion of mine. I’ve traveled to all parts of the country for classes and shows, New York, California, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nevada, Texas, even to Canada and Mexico. I love learning new things, then getting to bring that knowledge back and sharing it with others. One of the best things is when someone suddenly “gets it” and understands what I’m sharing with them, it’s the greatest feeling! 

My life motto is “God first, family second, everything else third.” When I remember to keep things in that order, they always work out.
